This process is complicated and must be carried out under special conditions. Production is the first step, then medicines need to be packed and repacked.

After producing, the drugs are packed into large packages and shipped on. Pharmaceutical repackaging is generally realised by an external corporation. This organization gets medicines and then divides them into tinier packagings, for example blisters in boxes or plastic bottles. The containers, in which medicines are transported have to fulfil special requirements. In some cases the stable temperature is required to preserve all the properties. That is the reason why some packages are specially insulated. The process has a name of „cold chain”. For instance, some types of capsules or vaccines have to be kept in the fridge – in patient’s home also. Another form of pharmaceutical repackaging takes place in drug stores. Some patients come to the pharmacy for prescription medicines. The proper medicine is produced by pharmacist according to the physicians’ indications. So the drug stores get bigger amounts of specific substances, that are next divided into tinier parts, properly mixed and packed in smaller containers for users. The pharmacist informs the client how to store this drug and how long it may be used without losing its properties.

A drug is a special product, which needs to be packed with special care and kept in particular conditions. All the procedure ensures that pharmaceutical gets in patient’s hands in ideal shape and its properties are fully maintained.
